Nwe willingly return to the bright Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Lugano or to the dim light of its crypt, to feel the presence of Msgr. Aurelio Bacciarini, holy disciple of Don Guanella, zealous bishop of Lugano, patient martyr through many conflicts and illnesses. We also returned there last July 1st, close to the anniversary of his death, which occurred on June 27th 1935, to celebrate a solemn Mass in memory and invocation of him.
Mons. Nicola Zanini, delegate of the apostolic administrator of Lugano mons. Alain de Raemy presided over the concelebration, accompanied by the provincial superior of the Guanellians Don Alessandro Allegra, by the postulator of the cause Don Bruno Capparoni and by the local parish priest Don Italo Molinaro. About twenty priests participated in the celebration; among them numerous Guanellians from foreign countries who were visiting his tomb for the first time.
During the homily the prelate, taking inspiration from the figures of Abraham and Sarah who during the visit of God received the promise of their son, he said: «Soon, by desire of the Diocese and thanks to the help of our archivist Don Carlo Cattaneo and the postulator Don Bruno Capparoni, we will have a new biography of Msgr. Bacciarini. However, I would invite each of us to reread in our hearts the presence of Bishop Aurelio as a "visit" that brought life to our Church. Thus for example by establishing the Teresine, wanting the diffusion of the good press, founding the People's Journal, looking forward with the Christian Social organization. Just to mention the most challenging works. But also a possible miracle, now first and foremost being examined by the administrator Alain de Raemy, is a mysterious visit which apparently brought life to a sick little girl. We pray that the beatification process can continue, even if for us, for our hearts, for our very human people, Bishop Aurelio is already an example of holiness."
At the end the priests and those present went down into the crypt for a prayer at the tomb of the venerable Aurelius and for the singing of the Hello.
The words of Msgr. Zanini are an invitation to ask for the intercession of Msgr. Aurelio Bacciarini. If for the Catholic people of Ticino and for the Guanellians he is already a saint, especially after he was proclaimed "venerable" in 2008, the desire remains alive for the Church to place its solemn seal with the beatification. This seal requires a miracle, which many are asking God for. We also recommend this invocation to readers of The Holy Crusade, for which it is not necessary to remember that Aurelio Bacciarini was the first parish priest of the parish of San Giuseppe al Trionfale from 1912 to 1915.
Therefore, anyone who obtains graces from God by invoking the venerable Aurelio Bacciarini is asked to report them to the Postulator General Don Bruno Capparoni, via Bernardino Telesio 4B
