A survey commissioned by Dei shows that adolescents look to the future with optimism, full of energy. Counting on the mother, who remains the reference figure.

It is called «Seme diVento» and it is a project implemented by three Dei offices (Youth Ministry, Catechetical Office, Family Ministry) to start walking together with teenagers again. The intent is to involve the entire Christian community in the care of the new generations. The course is designed to last four years and aims to cultivate the hopes of the children, the "seeds of the future" for the entire society.

Compared to past generations, adolescents "believe they have more opportunities". This is one of the data that emerged from the Ipsos survey commissioned for the “Seme diVento” project, developed by the Service for Youth Pastoral Care (Snpg), together with the Catechetical Office (UCN) and the Office for Family Pastoral Care (UNPF), presented this afternoon in Rome. However, 45% of the sample of children between 12 and 18 years old believe they have more problems than their parents even if 44% think that the problems are the same. Regarding the opportunities that young people believe they have in a superior way, they are not limited to work but focus on the greater use of technology. 37% are convinced that they will have a better economic future, 35% that they will have a higher quality of life and 59% expect a different society, in particular more sustainable and attentive to the environment. According to the director of Ipsos, Nando Pagnoncelli, the survey teaches how adolescents show resilience and optimism and how in general they are ready to return to their usual lives, showing a substantial ability to take the good even from an experience like that of pandemic.
