From Abel's life onward, man has discovered that prayer is the most powerful source of energy that people can experience. Throughout the Bible, prayer appears as the breath of every living thing. This breath, evidently, was the soul of the family of Nazareth. For Joseph, Mary and Jesus, the invitation to prayer was marked in five moments of the day, almost to give continuity to the praise, obeying the word that Jesus would have taught to the disciples as we read in the Gospel of John: «Without me there is no you can do nothing" (15,5) and in that of Luke: "We must always pray" (Lk 18,1).

In religious literature there is a classic book that has helped many souls find the face of God, it is the "Diary of a Russian pilgrim". The protagonist is precisely a pilgrim who crosses Ukraine and Russia carrying only dry bread and the Bible in his bag. This pilgrim, attending a mass, was struck by Saint Paul's exhortation to "pray without ceasing". Inexperienced, he starts looking for someone who can teach him how to live everyday life and at the same time have his mind continually turned to God in prayer. Finally, he meets a «starec», a spiritual father, who teaches him the so-called Jesus prayer, that is, the «prayer of the heart» which consists in the repetition, like a litany, of this expression: «Lord Jesus Christ, son of God , have mercy on me, a sinner."

The pilgrim embarks on his journey and, to his constant prayer in the form of a litany, adds his personal experience and that of qualified witnesses of faith he meets along the journey. The purpose of the pilgrimage is to learn to pray so as to meet Jesus, the master, "the way, the truth and the life".
