The parishes of the Roman suburbs engaged in the multi-ethnic context. Challenged by this reality, the Christian community responds with simple and concrete initiatives

C'it's a coming and going of children and mothers with their hijab (the characteristic colored hats) in some parishes in the outskirts of Rome. With backpacks on their shoulders and still wearing their aprons, some kids enter the rooms of the oratory, sit at the tables, open pencil cases and notebooks. Awaiting them are some volunteer “teachers”. Doing homework together, finding the meaning of the most difficult words, repeating the history lesson out loud: these are the activities. Then comes the time for recreation: someone has brought sweets or a small snack to share.

In the logo of the first World Children's Day, which will be held in Rome in May 2024, the handprints in different colors represent the multiple cultures, called to form a unity that welcomes and values differences; the stylized profile of the dome of San Pietro recalls the Church, guardian of the future of the new generations; the dome lantern is a metaphor for the Christian "light bearers" and the cross is obviously the symbol of the passion and resurrection of Jesus.
