Giorgio La Pira was not an absent-minded dreamer, but a "multiplier" of authentic Faith, a concrete witness of charity (like Saint Luigi Guanella), ready to make his cry for peace reach where conflicts arose. A Sicilian in love with Florence, "a terrace open to the world": «Its roofs - he said - form a harmoniously united "whole"... Celestial city and earthly city». Impressed by the measure of man that is reflected in it (it is the hallmark of Humanism). He served him to explain the finite-infinite, divine-human relationship.

The 2016 edition of the World Day of the Sick will take place in Nazareth. The announcement from Nazareth follows the one given in Germany, in the sanctuary of Altötting, during the celebrations held from 8 to 12 February. This day is celebrated every year at a local level (diocese and parishes) and solemnly every three years always near a Marian sanctuary. This celebration thus realizes a desire supported by the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Fouad Twal. Pope Francis in his message on the occasion of the XXIV World Day of the Sick wrote that "he offers me the opportunity to be particularly close to you, dear sick people, and to those who take care of you".

Mercy: it is the word that reveals the mystery of the SS. Trinity. Mercy: it is the final and supreme act with which God comes to meet us. Mercy: it is the fundamental law that lives in the heart of every person when he looks with sincere eyes at the brother he meets on the journey of life. Mercy: it is the way that unites God and man, because it opens the heart to the hope of being loved forever despite the limitations of our sin." The Lenten journey is the search for the face of God which, too often, the cataract of our pride prevents us from seeing; in fact, Lent is a sacrament that spans forty days in which everything that Jesus accomplished in his earthly life passes through osmosis, like a transfusion into our life. The sacrament is a visible sign in which we can experience the concrete presence of Christ Jesus who heals, forgives, nourishes us, strengthens our lives and above all makes us capable of loving.
