Listen, now!
Dear Saint Joseph,
we want to spend this hour of time in your company and next to your sweet wife Maria.
We are at the beginning of a month that Christian tradition has dedicated to the consideration of his presence in the mystery of grace and love with which God envelops the life of all humanity.
With your marriage to Mary, the sky acquired a new light and you Joseph entered as a patient builder of the city of God among men.
The month of May is the explosion of the joy of living, nature is covered in the most beautiful colors that God the creator keeps on his palette as a great artist.
The beauty and role of Mary in the plan of divine Providence find their exaltation with the event of Easter. The final stage of Jesus' adventure on earth recalls the roots of a life lived in Nazareth.
In that little house God's dreams for the salvation of humanity came to fruition.
So I like to stop next to you, Saint Joseph, and sense your emotions, your feelings, your perplexities, your doubts, but above all evaluate the love that pushed you to surrender yourself to the will of God and become God's collaborator in saving the honor of Mary your legitimate wife and the descendants of the house of David, the royal lineage into which Jesus was to enter due to the ancient prophecy.
In your life Joseph you did not wear the royal insignia, your forehead did not have the crown of a king, but it was bright with the sweat of hard work. You didn't live in a palace, but in a small house carved partly out of the rock. You had no servants at your service, but your bride was a wonderful, hard-working, welcoming, humble servant of the history of humanity.
In your youth, during the weekly meetings in the synagogue you will have heard the passage from the book of the Bible called "Sirach" proclaimed, which speaks of the perfect and wise woman. Over the years you have cultivated the dream of being able to marry a woman with these qualities and with a noble soul.
